Robert B. Thornburg
Rob is a trial lawyer with nearly 20 years of experience assisting automotive and other manufacturers in successfully resolving product liability and product performance claims in and out of the courtroom. He has experience in state and federal courts and routinely represents clients throughout the Midwest, having handled cases in Indiana as well as 15 other states. Rob has first-chair jury trial experience in more than 25 cases tried to verdict. He has also tried more than 50 bench trials and arbitrations.
Defended automotive manufacturers against a myriad of theories and design defect and/or crashworthiness claims involving front or side airbag deployment and non-deployment, seat belt false latch, seat belt inertial release, rollovers, handling and stability and unintended acceleration.
Represented OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers in commercial disputes involving multimillion-dollar product performance claims alleging common defects in vehicle fleets to component failures exceeding maximums in supplier agreements.
Worked alongside automotive manufacturers to resolve disputes involving dealer termination and allegations of violations of state and federal laws prohibiting price discrimination.
